I can't stress the importance of making regular back up's of all the important data contained on your computer.
Just think what would happen if your computer stopped working and the hard drive wasn't able to be accessed. For most people this would spell diaster. you would lose all you personal information, photographs, letters, music. Pictures of the kids growing up, important letters, and for most an extensive music collection that has taken years to build up.
You can back up you personal data to CD,DVD, or an External Hard Drive. I would recommend you back you at least once a month if not more.
External Hard Drives have been reduced greatly in price, and can be picked up fairly cheaply. PC Clinic can supply an external Hard Drive & give advice on backing up your personal data. We can also show you how to back up you information.
A Hard Drive can fail at anytime
Computers can be replaced the personal data on them CAN'T!!

Broadband
Are you still in you broadband contract?
If you are outside your current broadband contract with your Internet Service Provider (ISP) (most contracts are 12/18 month) contact your ISP and try and renew your contract at a lower price. Most providers will give you the same broadband speed for a lower price if you tell them you want a MAC code. If you threaten to leave you current provider they may well lower the price if you tell them you can get cheaper broadband from another provider with the same if not better conditions. (I.e no download limits) most providers will also throw in a wireless router if you ask them.

MAC Codes
If you want to change you current ISP (Internet Service Provider) you will require a MAC code. A MAC code is a (Migration Access Code) code that will be given to you by your current ISP, which you will have to supply to you new ISP. This will allow your new provider to access your line at the BT exchange, and allow them to provide you with internet access.
